A conscious choice

Ilias: “During my search for an internship, an acquaintance at Dieseko recommended the company. I quickly made contact and had a pleasant interview where it became evident what we could expect from each other. I chose to work in marketing as I enjoy creating valuable content and find it challenging to work behind the scenes to promote a product.”

 Broad goal

“The assignment from school has a broad objective, which is to determine how the marketing department can contribute to increasing sales. To achieve this, I analyze the factors that can make an impact, identify the value that needs to be created, and identify any dependencies. I focus on understanding the turnover and identifying key figures supporting my analysis.”

Responsibility

Ilias: “It’s a small department where I have a lot of responsibility and can work independently. There is always something to do: I have time to work on my school project, but also to help out. Because of my training, we mainly deal with online marketing: it’s good to discover analogue marketing here and build a relationship with customers”.

“On the one hand, I am working on my internship assignment from my studies, and on the other hand, I am helping with the marketing tasks here at Dieseko”.

Marketing

“When it comes to marketing, I pay close attention to what happens at Dieseko. Specifically, I focus on the company’s presence on LinkedIn, including the roles of its employees and products. I strive to take a broad and comprehensive approach in my analysis.”

 Theory and practice

Ilias: “Apart from this theoretical approach, I also apply the knowledge I have gained. For example, the other day, I made a poster for another department. It’s good that all the theoretical knowledge I ‘absorb’ at school can be applied in practice: it makes it very tangible!

Challenging and versatile

“I am happy with the way I am taken on. Initially, I had to get used to transitioning from school to ‘work’, but now I have found my niche. There is a pleasant atmosphere, and people have fun together. People think of each other: I can carpool, for example. It really is a team! I work three days in the office and two days at home, mainly on my school project.

A broader view

Ilias: “My traineeship is divided into four phases, which allows me to plan my work. Once a month I have a day back at school, which allows me to focus on my internship and not have any other school commitments. This placement is giving me a broader view of marketing!

Supervision

“The supervision by my colleagues Douwe and Harmen is very good. I am involved in processes and meetings every week. And we get regular feedback on my work. All in all, my time here is very interesting. Due to the analogue nature of marketing, this is a choice off the beaten track. This is an addition to my knowledge; I will benefit from it!
