Zero Emission Demo Days

Last December, Woltman and Dieseko organized Group Zero Emission Demo Days. Representatives of the Dutch Foundation Industry were invited for a demonstration of our latest zero-emission foundation equipment; the Woltman 90DRe fully electric Drilling Rig and the 700e EHPU (Electric Hydraulic Power Unit).

“From the vision of ‘Founding the Future’, Dieseko has been researching and developing emission reduction for several years, says Ronald IJntema, CCO of Dieseko Group. We showed the challenges and choices to achieve zero-emission machines with detailed presentations. Safety and sustainability are key. And a lot of research has been done -together with experts and customers- for the technical implementation. The result is two machines that can be used tomorrow.”

Our Zero Emission Equipment

Woltman 90 DRe - Electric Drilling Rig

  • First zero emission 613Kw Drilling Rig in its class
  • Performance, quality and hydraulics based on the proven Woltman 90DR
  • Two fail-safe high-performance battery packs of in total 1,200kW
  • Key differentiator when bidding for projects with the most stringent emission requirements

What distinguishes the Woltman e-rig from the competitors

Both manoeuvring and crane functions are electric. The 90DRe is, therefore, 100% electrically powered. This makes the 90DRe the only 100% emission-free drilling rig for power up to 600 kW.

What is the electrical concept?

The 90DRe has a smaller PM motor to power the undercarriage and winches. A heavier second PM motor is switched on, for example, during drilling activities requiring high-power. As a result, the machine achieves very high energy efficiency.

Why does the Woltman have two battery packs?

The crane has a built-in battery pack of 200 kWh and a separate battery pack on the back of the crane of 1 MWh. The built-in package allows the crane to trailer and erect the mast autonomously. The large battery pack provides power for production and is also a counterweight. The thermal architecture allows fast and safe charging and gives endurance in all conditions.

How long does the Rig run on one battery charge?

Woltman investigated the power used based on logged measurements on the construction site. Based on this, the required capacity is determined. The starting point is average work with outputs of up to 400 kW and production of eight piles. The available battery charge is more than sufficient for this. Grid connection is only necessary for much heavier work to charge in idle time and also to be able to supply extra power at peak powers. Overnight charging is sufficient for a new working day.

Why still are hydraulic attachments used on an e-Rig?

The customer wants to be able to exchange attachments. Just like with a normal 90DR, the customer retains the option to use the machine multi-purpose for drilling, pile driving and vibrating.

Woltman is currently developing an electric RH-45-HS rotary head. With more newly to develop attachments the large PM motor in the 90DRe can be omitted.

What are the savings of CO2?

One litre of diesel produces 2.6 kilos of CO2. Compared to this, savings can amount to 93,000 kilos of CO2 per year.
