Marutai on front page Japanese construction magazine

Japanese civil engineering company Marutai Doboku Co.Ltd. has been active in foundation construction for more than sixty years. They distinguish themselves by setting the bar extremely high when it comes to safety. Moreover, they are very critical of themselves and their suppliers. Their aim is to supply unique foundation equipment and to apply innovative working methods. Being and staying innovative is their starting point. In recent years, they have increasingly focused on markets outside Japan, such as Bangladesh, Indonesia and Africa. Marutai is proud to have the recently purchased PVE 90VM on the front page of a Japanese construction and infrastructure magazine.

Understanding & trust

Our cooperation is based on mutual understanding and trust. We try to think along and oppose when it is in the interest of the customer and our long-term relationship. Through this form of close cooperation, understanding and full support from Dieseko, we have already achieved many successes. We look forward to making the most of our relationship in the future as well. One of the latest results of our cooperation is the distribution of our PVE 90VM by Marutai Doboku in the Japanese market. The PVE 90VM is the largest VM machine in the world!

Doing business in Japan

To do good business you have to learn to understand the country, the market and the people. And you can only do that by meeting people frequently. Especially in Asia, this is one of the requirements to be able to do business “successfully” at all. In addition, focus, a strategy and commitment/perseverance are required. Mapping the Japanese market properly, seeing or developing opportunities and then acting are extremely important in this respect.

Study the culture and come up with a good strategic plan. (SMART , Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Realistic and Time-bound). For Dieseko Group, this meant working closely with local partners and customers. This resulted, among other things, in setting up its own PVE-YTJ association with Japanese members/customers. There are now 50 members in addition to our other loyal Japanese customer base. These members and customers eventually became Ambassadors for our company in Japan.

Japan is a special country

  • Japan is located 9,179 km from the Netherlands
  • Nowadays it takes about 18 hours to fly (before Corona the flight time was about 14 hours with a direct scheduled flight)
  • Japan is 9 times larger than the Netherlands
  • Japan has 128.7 million inhabitants (of which 14 million in Tokyo)
  • The Japanese language is special, but Japanese etiquette and non-verbal (eyes speaking) are even more so
  • Extremely friendly and polite. This can get in the way if you want to do business.
  • In Japanese tradition and culture there is respect for people, but especially for nature and the world.
  • Being reliable, keeping promises, long-term thinking and risk-avoiding behavior or avoiding loss of face is typical for the Japanese in general.
