Dutch newspaper NRC publishes about electric foundation machine

The Woltman 90DRe is the first foundation machine with a battery pack. This battery, which is placed in a container next to the machine, has the capacity of twenty Tesla's at 1.2 megawatt hours. After being plugged in overnight, the machine can go on for another full working day.

Article introduction:

At over 100,000 kilos, the Woltman 90DRe drilling rig is one of the big boys among foundation machines. It drills, vibrates, and piles up to a depth of more than 30 meters. This type of machine drills piles half a meter thick into the ground, holding bridges, wind turbines and high-voltage pylons in place.

Construction company BAM was the first to order an electric drill and pile driver from Woltman and helped develop it. It required a substantial investment, which ended up being profitable. Sustainability and profitability need not be mutually exclusive.

In the article in NRC Handelsblad, Richard Piekar, director of purchasing at BAM Nederland, commercial director Radboud van Dusseldorp of VSE Industrial Automation and commercial director Ronald IJntema of Woltman talk about the development of the Woltman 90DRe.
